We were deeply saddened and shocked to hear the news of the crash of the Coast Guard Rescue 116 helicopter  and the subsequent search for its crew over the past three weeks. Some generous donations and cards were collected by the children in Holy Family and transported to Blacksod by Captain E. Shivnen whose children have and are attending our school.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the crew, as well as all the volunteers helping with the search.  We hope that the missing crew members are found soon.

On behalf of the Blacksod Community Centre in Mayo, we would like to thank you for the very generous food donations, they are gratefully received.  Attached are some photos of the volunteers at the community centre receiving the food donations and cards.  All the volunteers and the emergency services were very touched by your kindness and your thoughtful and caring messages.
Sincerely,

Capt. Ed Shivnen
