‘Dea sceil iontach’ Fantastic news as Holy Family SNS is awarded the Gaelbhratach (Irish Language Flag) for improved standards in the Irish language and proficiency in the use of the language by staff and students in the school. Holy Family SNS has become one of the very first English medium schools to receive this very prestigious Gael Linn Award and it comes after two years of tremendous effort and hard work by our ‘Gael Choiste’, teachers and pupils.
We are very proud of this award and would like to pay a special thanks to Ms. Curran & the staff ‘Choiste’ and to our 5th and 6th class members of the pupils ‘Choiste’ who worked so hard over the last 2 years to ensure that the school reached the high standards needed to secure this award. Go raibh Mile Maith Agaibh go leir!
Following a request from the Parent’s association in 2015 to try and put a greater emphasis on Irish as subject / language in the school, the staff & management identified this Award Scheme as the most appropriate vehicle to improve the use of Irish in the school, build a greater appreciation of the language and develop higher oral Irish standards. Anyone visiting the school will be aware of the use of Irish by pupils in delivering messages from class to class or to the ‘Oifig’, the use of Irish in the ‘Siopa’ , in the corridors and in the classrooms and the considerable effort being made by pupils to use Irish when addressing or greeting friends and visitors.
We are delighted with this award and congratulate all our students and our teachers for the huge achievement that winning this award represents.

Congratulations to everyone who contributed to the effort to secure this great award for the school. We are very proud of your achievement.
