Yesterday we gathered in the school hall to celebrate in the success of this years 6th class, Spirit of Service Localise programme.
The sixth class students were joined by their youth mentors and young adult leaders (all of whom were past pupils) plus their adult leaders to hand over approximately 100 food hampers to Denis Barry of St. Vincent de Paul. Denis expressed his sincere thanks to all involved as their generosity will make a huge difference in so many people’s lives this Christmas.
They were also joined by Senator James Reilly who spoke of his pride in the students for all their hard work in collecting the food parcels. Thank you to Senator Reilly for once again coming to help us celebrate our wonderful achievement.
The Localise 10 week programme has been running the school for four years and this years project was as successful as ever. The food handover was followed by Carol Singing and the presentation of Christmas cards to the residents of Anovacare nursing home in Cloghran. The students then celebrated their end of programme with a pizza party in the school.
It was a long day but thoroughly enjoyed by all.
We would like to thank our students for all their hard work. You are fantastic ambassadors for the school. Thank you to the parents for making such tremendous donations to this worthy cause. Without parents support this yearly event would not be as successful as it has been.
To the parent volunteers who gave their time so freely, thank you. To Seán and Camilla from Localise, your support has been fantastic. To our regular adult leaders, Myles, Hugh, Siobhán, Brenda, Suzanne, Hannah, Olivia, Helen and Angela…. we couldn’t have done it without you so thank you one and all.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas from everyone in Rivervalley Localise and Holy Family SNS
