Before the summer, in conjunction with our Parents Association and The Dyslexia Association of Ireland we held some very successful events to raise awareness of dyslexia among the Parents and Guardians in our school. A really big thank you to all those who helped make it a great success! This year we are continuing to raise awareness with a focus on developing a better understanding of dyslexia among our pupils across all year groups.
We have developed a new School Ambassadors for Dyslexia programme in Holy Family S.N.S., the first of its kind in our school and possibly even the first in the country! This will officially launch next week to coincide with Dyslexia Awareness Week 2018 October 1st 7th. Our Ambassadors plan to visit classrooms during the year to deliver a presentation on dyslexia to their peers helping to spread a greater understanding.
So, on to the exciting bit

! Two of our Ambassadors Ella and Ryan wrote a letter to News2Day inviting them to visit our school for Dyslexia Awareness Week. RTÉ has very kindly accepted our invitation and will be coming to Holy Family S.N.S. this coming Monday 1st October to film a report for their news programme! They hope that the report will feature on their News2Day slot at 4.30 pm on RTÉ 2 that same day. It will also be available to view on the online RTÉ Player the following day. This is a very unique occasion so make sure to get the popcorn ready and tune in to see our school in action!
